Blade Show 2018 – Bradford USA

BRADFORD KNIVES18

First off in our Blade Show 2018 video series is Bradford USA, who took some time to showcase their Guardian line of fixed blades. Practically everything about this knife is customizable, from the blade type, steel, finish, scales all the way down to the sheath. [Read more…] At Blade Show, they had a really nice setup that caught my eye, and if it wasn’t because I had already overspent my budget, I would have picked up a black tumbled Guardian 3.5 with those awesome blue/black G10 scales that you see in the video. Don’t laugh about overspending my budget… I know I am not alone, and I can tell you there are a lot of unhappy significant others finding out how much was spent on some sharp swag from Blade!!! Blade Show 2018 Highlights

Well folks, what a weekend at Blade Show 2018! There were so many exhibitors and companies from all parts of the world that converged at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Georgia from June 1-3 showcasing some of their current, upcoming, and in some cases prototype offerings. Daily Carry Solutions was given VIP entry thanks to the generous folks over at Spyderco, who did not disappoint with their recent unveiling of the 2018 Mid Year Catalog.

As for the show, I took a bunch of awesome photos and snagged some killer footage that will be uploaded over the course of the next week or so. Being that we are a small team here, it takes a bit for our material to wind up online, but I can assure you it is worth the wait! In the meantime, we have a few pics for you to check out below:

Product Review: Sandpiper of California Venture Backpack

This review is on the Venture backpack from Sandpiper of California

Links to purchase are located at the end of this review

Every now and then I audit my gear to see if there is something that can use a significant upgrade. While all of my main equipment was perfectly fine and sturdy, I realized that my office bag was in need of some serious updating. I had been using a Targus laptop backpack for the past 5 years, and while it worked flawlessly, it became time to retire it and look for a replacement. As many do, I began scouring the internet and Youtube for reviews of products that I was interested in, and in doing so, I found there were alot of new products on the market that really took urban/office EDC to a new level. This is what led me to check out Sandpiper of California’s ‘Venture’ backpacks. Continue reading “Product Review: Sandpiper of California Venture Backpack”

Product Review: Olight PL-MINI Valkyrie

Interested in the PL MINI? Purchase It Here

While this review does sway from the ‘daily carry’ mentality, it doesn’t sway from the premise: We prepare using quality, reliable equipment to ensure that we meet what life brings us head on. That includes when the sun goes down, and darkness is upon us. Darkness is the perfect scenario for many who hunt, or prey, to take advantage of the absence of light. Unfortunately, this also includes thieves and those who could potentially do harm to others. While there are those who do not carry a firearm, those that do EDC their handgun typically keep it as a source for home defense, among other purposes. Luckily, as necessity is the mother of invention, the weaponlight was born. Continue reading “Product Review: Olight PL-MINI Valkyrie”

YouTuber to Watch: Outer Limitless

Before I even began the concept of starting Daily Carry Solutions, I scoured the ‘net looking for quality information on things I was interested in learning, or an honest opinion of something I considered purchasing. There are a lot of YouTube pages these days with people who run field tests and give reviews, but you have to sift through a lot of the same ‘cookie cutter’ information and pages with stellar reviews over gear they’ve only had for a week or so…so its always a great thing to find a Youtuber like Outer Limitless who really puts his work into his page, and puts each item he reviews to work! Product Review: Anker PowerCore+ mini 3350mAh Power Bank

IMG_5089

If you are not familiar with Anker, my suggestion would be to get out from under the rock you are living in and check out their products! LOL!!! Ok, all jokes aside, Anker is a leading innovator of charging/smart devices for a variety of uses. Anker’s products are sold and used across the globe, and are best known for their charging cables, chargers, and power banks. Fusing high capacity and quick charging with porability, Anker has created power banks able to charge the average high capacity 18650 battery (like the 3600mAh Olight batteries) almost 14 times on a single charge. That’s right, 14 TIMES. Of course, you can only pack so much power as you start to shrink in size. In this case, the lipstick-sized Powercore+ Mini is about as small as it gets when you look at reliable, powerful charging banks that you can take with you on the go. Knife Review: Spyderco Native 5 (Lightweight FRN Model C41PBK5)

Today’s review is on the Native 5 Lightweight folding knife from Spyderco. But first, a little background history on the company. Spyderco was originally founded in 1976 by Sal and his wife Gail Glesser, who sold their knife sharpeners (the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker) at fairs and trade shows around the USA. In 1981, the Glessers moved to Golden, Colorado and introduced their first Spyderco knife, the Worker, to the world. While most of the knives being circulated on the market were slipjoint or thumbstud models, Spyderco wanted to try something different, innovative, and intuitive. The Worker was the culmination of that – pioneering the concept of a round hole in the blade for one-handed opening, a clip on the handle for carry a the top of the pocket, and optional serrated-edge blades for agressive cutting performance. Those features set the stage for a new age in the knife industry, and gave birth to what many believe to be the modern folding knife. Today Spyderco boasts a robust catalog, from folders of all shapes and sizes, to fixed blade knives, to kitchen cutlery, all while still paying homage to the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker (which, by the way, is still an awesome sharpening method after 42 years). Now that we have that out of the way, let’s dive into what the Native is all about!
